Chiropractic Visit

Today the puppies got their first big road trip. Two hours roundtrip to see the chiropractor. Margaret Holiday is an animal chiropractor from here in the Bay Area. She is wonderful and we always take our litters to be adjusted at around day 10 by either her or Dr. Michael Gleason. They both treat all our dogs to keep them healthy. There is a good interview of Dr. Gleason here where he discusses the benefits of chiropractic care for performance animals. It's well known that the birth process is pretty violent on these tiny bodies and getting an adjustment early after birth helps assure they start out life free from issues related to the stresses of birth. Another benefit of the trip was...well the trip itself! <grin> This was their first trip other than a short hop to the vet for a well check the day they were born. We've done many trips with our pups and I must say, these three were the best travelers we've ever had. Our van being a 1-Ton chassis is not the smoothest thing on the road and they got bounced around in their crate a bit but they seemed to be fine with it only pitching a fit a few times when we hit some really rough pavement and....uh...when I went off the curb leaving the Jack-In-The-Box parking lot. <embarrassed look> Well it was a sharp turn! <grin> Anyway these guys are all going to have very long trips home with their new owners so we'll be doing more of this to get them prepared for the journey to their new homes. Dr. Holiday graciously allowed me to take pictures of the session. Hope you find it interesting.

A lot of people have asked me if Pink Girl was screaming or crying in this picture. She was yawning. All three had been sound asleep when we pulled them out of the crate to be adjusted so they were all yawning some.
